When you're after something warming with a bit of a kick, these spicy turkey chilli wraps are just the ticket. It's the kind of meal that's both satisfying and simple – smoky, spiced, and packed with flavour that tastes like you've spent hours marinating the meat (even though you haven't).

This recipe delivers on the nutrition front without being boring. With 30g of protein and 12g of fibre per serving, lean turkey, black beans and sweet corn come together in a rich tomato base with just the right amount of heat. The whole wheat wraps are perfect for scooping up every spoonful. We decided to add some fresh veg as toppings for our wraps (in the video above) – bell pepper, grated cheddar and lettuce – for extra flavour and texture.

Whether you're meal prepping for the week ahead or need a reliable midweek dinner, this chilli is easy to pull together and genuinely tasty.

Ingredients for spicy turkey chilli with black beans and corn, served with whole wheat wraps

  • 500g ground turkey

  • 1 can (400g) black beans, drained and rinsed

  • 1 can (300g) corn kernels, drained

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 large tomatoes, diced

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 teaspoons chilli powder

  • 1 teaspoon cumin

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 4 whole wheat wraps or buns

Directions

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 mins.

Step 2

Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant

Step 3

Add ground turkey to the pot, cooking until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 mins. Break it apart with a spoon as it cooks.

Step 4

Stir in chilli powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. Cook for 1-2 mins to toast the spices.

Step 5

Add diced tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring well to combine. Let it simmer for 10 mins to meld flavours.

Step 6

Stir in black beans and corn, cooking for another 5-7 mins until heated through.

Step 7

While the chilli simmers, preheat the oven to 375℉ (190℃). Warm the whole wheat rolls or wraps in the oven for about 5 mins.

Step 8

Serve the spicy turkey chilli hot, with a whole wheat roll or wrap on the side.
